On July 31, 2026, the Final Round of the Computer Network and Data Communication Competition themed “Cyber Solutions Challenge 2026” organized by the Faculty of Information Technology at Nguyen Tat Thanh University took place vibrantly with the competition of 10 teams. The projects focused on solving practical problems regarding information security, online fraud prevention, cyberattack detection, and digital system protection, thereby demonstrating the professional competence, creative thinking, and technology application capabilities of NTTU students.
From specialized knowledge to practical technology solutions
The rapid development of digital technology brings increasingly diverse and complex risks of information insecurity. Current cyberattack forms not only exploit technical vulnerabilities but also combine artificial intelligence, automation, spoofing techniques, and human factors. Online fraud, data theft, ransomware, denial-of-service attacks, and unauthorized intrusions pose many challenges for organizations, enterprises, and the community.
In this context, computer networks and data communication play a crucial role in ensuring the connection, continuous operation, and safety of digital systems. The Student Computer Network and Data Communication Competition themed “Cyber Solutions Challenge 2026” was organized by the Faculty of Information Technology of Nguyen Tat Thanh University to create an environment for students to apply acquired knowledge to address real-world problems in the fields of computer networks, data communication, cybersecurity, and digital system protection.
Beyond searching for new technological ideas, the competition provided opportunities for students to experience the process of researching, building, and perfecting products in a competitive environment. Through each topic, competing teams sharpened their systematic thinking, analytical and problem-solving capacities, while learning how to transform ideas into products, models, or technological solutions with practical applicability.
After the preliminary round, 10 outstanding teams were selected to advance to the Final Round. Here, the teams delivered presentations, introduced their projects, and defended their ideas before the Board of Judges. Topics were evaluated based on multiple criteria, including novelty, creativity, scientific value, practical applicability, solution completion level, as well as the teams’ presentation and defense capabilities.
Diverse solutions, prominent spirit of innovation and creativity
Attending the Final Round of the Student Computer Network and Data Communication Competition “Cyber Solutions Challenge 2026” were Dr. Nguyen Kim Quoc – Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology, Head of the Organizing Committee; M.Sc. Vuong Xuan Chi – Vice Dean and Acting Head of the Department of Data Science, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee; M.Sc. Nguyen Van Thanh – Acting Head of the Department of Computer Networks and Data Communication, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee; Dr. Cao Van Kien – Vice Dean, Head of the Board of Judges; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Thi Hong Tham – Head of the Department of Computer Science; M.Sc. Do Hoang Nam – Acting Head of the Department of Software Engineering; M.Sc. Tran Chau Thanh Thien – Acting Head of the Department of Artificial Intelligence.

Delivering the opening address, Dr. Nguyen Kim Quoc – Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology, Head of the Organizing Committee, emphasized that the rapid development of digital technology creates many opportunities but simultaneously poses growing challenges for information security and network infrastructure. In this context, training human resources equipped with specialized knowledge, creative ability, and practical problem-solving skills is an important task for higher education institutions.
Highly appreciating the proactive spirit and passion for research of the competing teams, Dr. Nguyen Kim Quoc remarked that passing the preliminary round and appearing in the Final Round resulted from serious study, research, and hard work. The topics demonstrated not only knowledge of computer networks, data communication, and information security, but also the capacity to approach emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, large language models, and proactive defense support systems.
Based on evaluating creativity, scientific value, applicability, and degree of completion of each topic, the Board of Judges selected outstanding projects for award presentation. Notably, potential projects will continue to receive financial funding and assigned mentors from the University to refine products, preparing them for Municipal and National innovation and creativity competitions. Through this, ideas conceived during the competition gain additional conditions to develop into products and solutions with practical application value.
In the final result, First Prize of the “Cyber Solutions Challenge 2026” competition was awarded to team NVT with the topic “CyberTwin: A platform for simulating and visualizing cyberattack chains and analyzing incidents at a Security Operations Center (SOC)”. The project was highly praised for its creative idea, practical applicability, and orientation toward supporting information security analysis, monitoring, and incident response operations.

Second Prize went to team SHIELD with the project “Building an anti-online fraud system integrating Website, Chrome Extension, and AI Chatbot”. Featuring a cross-platform approach, the solution aims to enhance detection, warning, and prevention capabilities against online fraud threats.

Two Third Prizes were awarded to team NTH with the project “Project pre-run security verification system” and team ISPACE with the project “Network traffic classification and DDoS attack detection using machine learning algorithms”.

Additionally, the Organizing Committee presented 6 Consolation Prizes to six teams—Tanuki, VietAIS, START, Premium, Tri thuc so, and NJEC_SAFE—for projects focusing on diverse topics such as anti-Prompt Injection, website spoofing detection, identifying disguised ads and fraudulent websites, cybersecurity risk assessment, detecting online fraud risks, and protecting enterprise data using AI.

Honing expertise, developing confidence in a technological environment
One of the prominent values of “Cyber Solutions Challenge 2026” is enabling students to experience a fairly complete development process for a technological solution: from identifying the problem, researching, and conceptualizing to perfecting models, presenting, and defending before a professional council. Through the competition, students not only consolidated knowledge in computer networks, data communication, and information security, but also gained opportunities to develop critical skills such as teamwork, critical thinking, presentation, and situational handling.
Notably, many topics at the competition targeted existing problems in the digital environment, such as online fraud, DDoS attacks, AI system protection, cyberattack chain simulation, and supporting SOC operations. This serves as clear evidence of the practice-oriented training direction linked to scientific research and real-world needs at the Faculty of Information Technology, Nguyen Tat Thanh University.
The awards presented at “Cyber Solutions Challenge 2026” recognize the study, research, and creative process of the competing teams; at the same time, they create further motivation for students of the Faculty of Information Technology, Nguyen Tat Thanh University to continue conquering new technology challenges, fostering professional competence and an innovative spirit aimed at building a safe, modern digital environment.
