If your high school graduation exam scores were not quite what you expected, it is time to stay calm and re-evaluate your options. During the registration phase, selecting the right major, the right university, and arranging your preferences in the correct order can help you unlock more suitable learning opportunities.
Scores not as expected: Stay calm to make the right choices
MSc. Truong Quang Tri, Deputy Head of the Student Affairs Department at Nguyen Tat Thanh University (NTTU), advises that after receiving their results, candidates need to quickly regain their composure to calculate a strategic registration plan.
The first thing candidates need to focus on is the “floor score” (minimum admission threshold). This is the initial requirement for a candidate to be eligible for admission. However, the floor score is not the same as the “admission score” (the final cutoff).
“The final admission score can be higher than or equal to the threshold. This is something students need to pay special attention to when registering on the system. Some universities may announce a lower admission threshold, but the actual cutoff might be much higher, depending on the quota and the number of applicants,” Mr. Tri noted.
Therefore, for candidates with scores only 2–3 points above the threshold, registration needs to be calculated more carefully. Students can choose a favorite major but apply to several different universities to increase their chances of admission. In this process, the order of preferences is crucial, as the system will prioritize admission from the highest to the lowest preference according to the candidate’s choices.

According to admission regulations, the system processes preferences from highest to lowest, and each student is admitted to the highest possible preference. Therefore, if you have identified Nguyen Tat Thanh University (institution code: NTT) as a suitable environment, you should consider placing this code as your 1st preference to clearly demonstrate your priority while also unlocking support policies for new students.
In 2026, NTTU plans to enroll students in 57 majors across 19 fields using 5 admission methods. The academic system covers a wide range of fields such as health, technology, economics, engineering, tourism, languages, and other applied fields, giving candidates many options suited to their abilities, interests, and career trends.

Another notable point is NTTU’s 2026 scholarship policy. The university plans to deploy a scholarship fund totaling up to 75 billion VND, including many full-tuition support packages for eligible new students.
According to the expected policy, candidates who register code NTT as their 1st preference on the Ministry of Education and Training’s system, complete enrollment procedures, and meet the conditions before September 15th will have the opportunity to receive a scholarship package worth up to 17 million VND. This includes 12 million VND in tuition support, a foreign language learning voucher worth 5 million VND to enhance integration capabilities, and an additional 2 million VND support for the second semester. This policy is higher than the support provided for other preferences, creating more motivation for candidates to prioritize code NTT.
In summary, placing code NTT as your 1st preference is not just a way to arrange admission order; it is a choice linked to concrete advantages: diverse majors, a practice-oriented environment, extensive skill development activities, and a clear scholarship policy. During the registration season, when every decision must be carefully weighed, choosing the right school and the right priority order can make a difference in your entire university journey.
