From August 05–07, 2026, the 6th National Student Biology Olympiad 2026 took place at Duy Tan University, Campus 03 Quang Trung, Da Nang City, attracting hundreds of students from 31 universities across the country. Competing in this year’s academic playground, the team from Nguyen Tat Thanh University (NTTU) excellently brought home 01 Third Prize, 01 Individual Consolation Prize, and 01 Excellent Team Award, affirming the learning capacity and scientific research spirit of the University’s students.
An academic arena for students passionate about Biology
The 6th National Student Biology Olympiad 2026 was sponsored by the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations and officially recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training.
The competition was organized to discover young talents in the field of Biology, creating an environment for university students nationwide to interact, learn, hone knowledge, and build scientific research capacity. At the same time, the National Student Biology Olympiad contributes to enhancing cooperation among higher education institutions, thereby promoting the improvement and enhancement of Biology teaching and learning quality.
Under the theme “Elevating Biology – Breaking Through with AI in the Digital Era”, this year’s Student Biology Olympiad introduced a new approach, combining biological knowledge with modern technological trends. This was also an opportunity for students to broaden their understanding, stay updated on new developments in the field, and connect with young people who share the same passion for science.

NTTU team with 5 members from various training disciplines
Participating in the 6th National Student Biology Olympiad, the team from Nguyen Tat Thanh University comprised 05 students from General Medicine, Biotechnology, Veterinary Medicine, and Pharmacy:
• Nguyen Phuc Huy – General Medicine
• Dau Hoang Son – Biotechnology
• Pham Chau Ngoc – Veterinary Medicine
• Nguyen Thi Mai Quynh – Biotechnology
• Phan Tran Hoai Dong – Pharmacy
The combination of students from various life sciences and healthcare disciplines formed a team with a diverse knowledge background. For Biotechnology students from the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology, Nguyen Tat Thanh University, the competition was not only a test of strength but also a valuable occasion to reinforce specialized knowledge, engage in academic exchanges, accumulate experience, and spread the passion for scientific research.

Comprehensive exam structure, emphasizing theory and practical skills
This year’s National Student Biology Olympiad consisted of 02 exam sections: Theory and Practical, requiring contestants to apply their knowledge comprehensively. In the Theory section, candidates had 120 minutes to complete 100 multiple-choice questions covering a wide range of Biology-related domains. Meanwhile, the Practical section included 04 sections spanning Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Zoology, and Botany, demanding not only a solid grasp of knowledge but also the ability to apply it to experimental scenarios.
Evaluating this year’s exam, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Huy – Dean of the Faculty of Biology, University of Science, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and member of the Organizing Committee, noted that the exam featured “up-to-date relevance, practical applicability, and good differentiation.” This contributed to a highly challenging arena while providing a thoroughly comprehensive assessment of participating students’ competencies.
Deserved achievements after dedicated preparation
After days of serious and effortful competition, the Nguyen Tat Thanh University team achieved proud results. Student Nguyen Thi Mai Quynh – Biotechnology major excellently won Third Prize; student Phan Tran Hoai Dong – Pharmacy major earned the Consolation Prize. Alongside these individual achievements, the Nguyen Tat Thanh University team was also awarded the Excellent Team Award.
This is a commendable result following an active period of review, knowledge consolidation, and preparation for the contest. The team’s achievements are not only a source of joy for participating students but also recognition of the dedication and guidance provided by lecturers and the Department of Biotechnology – Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology throughout the preparation process.

Sharing her thoughts after winning Third Prize, student Nguyen Thi Mai Quynh expressed that as it was her first time participating in the Student Biology Olympiad, she felt both excited and anxious about the outcome. The accomplishment made her feel “truly surprised and happy.” Mai Quynh also extended her gratitude to the lecturers and the Department of Biotechnology – Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology for their dedicated guidance and steadfast support during the review process.
According to Mai Quynh, the competition was a particularly meaningful experience that helped her consolidate her Biology knowledge while offering a opportunity to challenge herself and connect with many outstanding peers who share the same passion for Biology.

Spreading the spirit of learning and scientific research
The achievement at the 6th National Student Biology Olympiad 2026 marks a proud milestone for Nguyen Tat Thanh University students, while demonstrating the effectiveness of fostering an environment where students can learn, experience, and challenge themselves in national academic competitions.
Particularly for Biotechnology students, the experiences at the Biology Olympiad not only reinforce foundational specialized knowledge but also ignite the research spirit, self-directed learning abilities, and passion for scientific exploration. This will serve as valuable preparation for them to continue developing professional capabilities, scientific research, and confidently tackling new challenges in their future academic and career journeys.
