Surpassing 210 products in Group B – Challenger, the TRAMED project by the Pulse & Pixel team, Health Technology Club of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, excellently claimed a spot in the Top 4 out of 8 teams attending the national final round of the “Vietnamese Student HackAIthon 2026“.
With a total score of 28.5/35, including 12.5/15 points for the Hackathon and 16/20 points for Pitching – the second highest across the entire group, this result recognizes the creative capacity, technology mastery, and interdisciplinary product development of Nguyen Tat Thanh University students.
The “Vietnamese Student HackAIthon 2026” competition is organized by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and implemented by the Vietnam Student Assistance and Development Center (VSDS), with companionship from Vietcombank and professional sponsorship from VNPT AI.

Bringing the spirit of Resolution 57-NQ/TW into student products
The “Vietnamese Student HackAIthon 2026” is one of the 20 key activities of the Vietnam Student Association to materialize Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024, of the Politburo on breakthroughs in developing science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation.
The competition not only encourages pupils and students to use AI tools but also sets a higher requirement: correctly identifying practical problems, developing solutions capable of operating, and proving application value before the professional council. This is a necessary shift from “using AI” to “creating with AI,” contributing to forming a young workforce capable of mastering technology and creating products to serve the community.
After nearly two months of implementation with three competition groups, the contest attracted 225,168 entries from 288 domestic universities and academies as well as many foreign educational institutions, demonstrating the widespread impact of the movement for research and application of AI among the young generation.
From Top 20 to Top 4 of the National Final Round
TRAMED participated in Group B – Challenger, where competing teams developed AI solutions at the minimum viable product – MVP level, exploiting the API ecosystem provided by the Organizing Committee and demonstrating practical operating capabilities. The competition group evaluated not only ideas but also focused on technical maturity, user experience, feasibility, and the value the product can generate.
TRAMED was built as an AI assistant to support physicians in the process of receiving Four-Diagnosis data, dialectical treatment formulation, prescription lookup, safety warnings, and electronic medical record management. The system organizes information according to the sequence of Observation, Audition, Olfaction & Gustation, Inquiry, and Palpation (Tứ chẩn), Eight Principles (Bát cương), organs (tạng phủ), qi and blood (khí huyết), meridians (kinh lạc), therapeutic principles (pháp trị), and herbal prescriptions (phương dược). Through this, data that used to be recorded disjointedly can be standardized, stored uniformly, and monitored throughout the entire treatment process.
The value of TRAMED lies not merely in digitizing paper medical records. The platform aims at three practical values: helping physicians look up information faster; reducing the risk of missing data and critical warnings; and gradually forming structured data to serve training, research, and evaluation of treatment outcomes.

For young doctors and students in health science majors, TRAMED can support a more systematic approach to the dialectical treatment formulation process. For medical examination and treatment facilities, standardized data makes record management, patient tracking, and information aggregation more convenient. In the long run, this can become a foundation contributing to preserving, inheriting, and developing traditional medical knowledge in the language of technology.

“AI proposes – doctor decides”
TRAMED is developed according to the principle “AI proposes – doctor decides”. The system does not automatically issue prescriptions but only supports information synthesis, providing suggestions and warnings for doctors to review.
All results must be checked, adjusted, accepted, or rejected by a qualified professional before use. Digital signatures are directed to be applied to identify the approver, confirmation timestamp, and final record content, thereby clearly distinguishing the AI-proposed part from the doctor’s professional decision. This approach places humans at the center, matching the spirit of managing and controlling AI systems in high-risk fields like healthcare. The Law on Artificial Intelligence No. 134/2025/QH15 was issued by the National Assembly on December 10, 2025, and took effect on March 1, 2026, creating an important legal corridor for the research, development, and application of AI in Vietnam.
Three months turning ideas into products
Behind the Top 4 result is three months during which the Pulse & Pixel team continuously researched, selected materials, standardized terminology, built data, integrated APIs, designed interfaces, and tested the product.
The challenge of the project was not only technology; the team also had to transform traditional medicine knowledge into a data structure that computers could process while still retaining professional logic and meaning. From an initial idea, Pulse & Pixel developed TRAMED into an MVP version capable of operating and demonstrating before the Board of Judges. This process helped members accumulate experience in interdisciplinary research, product development, teamwork, and problem-solving under time pressure.
From competition to practical testing
Following the “Vietnamese Student HackAIthon 2026”, the team aims to continue expanding the knowledge base, upgrading the warning system, developing mobile applications, and finalizing electronic medical record management functions. The project also targets testing at partner clinics to gather feedback from doctors, assess suitability with professional workflows, and adjust the product based on real-world data.
The Top 4 achievement is a proud milestone but not the final destination. The value of TRAMED will only be affirmed when the product operates stably, ensures safety and security, is verified on real-world data, and creates clear benefits for physicians, medical facilities, and patients.
The journey of Pulse & Pixel shows a practical approach to AI in healthcare: technology does not replace humans but supports organizing knowledge, standardizing data, and improving access to professional information. This is also how Nguyen Tat Thanh University students materialize the spirit of Resolution 57-NQ/TW with a creative, interdisciplinary product aimed at sustainable values for the community.
The imprint of an innovative environment at NTTU
The success of TRAMED is not only the result of a team’s efforts but also reflects the training environment associated with research, application, and innovation at Nguyen Tat Thanh University. Through the companionship of the University’s Board of Leadership, the Center for Creative Entrepreneurship and Incubation, the Department of Science and Technology, the Faculty of Pharmacy, the Youth Union – Student Association, along with a team of lecturers and experts, students are supported from the stage of ideation, data research, technology finalization to model development and participation in national-scale playgrounds.
Nguyen Tat Thanh University is gradually building a “startup university” model, where training activities are inseparable from applied research, innovation, and the practical needs of businesses and society. Academic and technology clubs become spaces for students to test ideas, work alongside experts, receive critiques, and gradually bring products out of the lecture hall.
The achievement of Pulse & Pixel at the “Vietnamese Student HackAIthon 2026” continues to affirm that Nguyen Tat Thanh University students approach AI not just as a new tool, but also know how to apply technology to specific community problems. From healthcare and pharmacy to digital transformation, student projects are demonstrating interdisciplinary learning capacity, proactive spirit, and the ambition to create practical value. This is also a prominent imprint in NTTU’s training orientation: not only equipping professional knowledge but also creating conditions for learners to master technology, develop innovative thinking, and transform knowledge into useful products for society.
