To strengthen the connection between education and practice, students majoring in Hotel Management at NIIE (NTT Institute of International Education) – Nguyen Tat Thanh University, had a field trip and practical learning session at the Saigon Prince Hotel under the guidance of Dr. Nguyen Duong Giang. This activity allowed students to directly observe a standard hotel operation model and gain a deeper understanding of professional requirements in the hospitality and service industry.

Located on Nguyen Hue Boulevard (Ho Chi Minh City), Saigon Prince is one of the hotels with a large scale and high service quality, frequently welcoming both domestic and international guests. This serves as a practical environment for Hotel Management students to access business operations while still in school.

During the program, students learned about the organizational structure of a luxury hotel, management processes, coordination between departments, and service standards applied in accommodation operations. Instead of only imagining through lectures, students had the opportunity to observe how a hotel operates daily, from guest welcoming and service provision to service quality management.

In addition to studying the operational model, the trip provided NIIE Institute’s Hotel Management students with perspectives on the working environment in the service industry. Practical insights from the support staff at Saigon Prince helped them understand professional requirements, work ethics, communication skills, and the ability to coordinate “smoothly” between departments to provide the most premium experience. This is a crucial factor for personnel in the industry and a mandatory standard for 4-5 star hotels and restaurants.

Each trip is not only an opportunity to apply learned knowledge to reality but also helps NIIE students understand the industry and practice necessary skills

For students, each business field trip is not just a lesson outside the lecture hall, but also an opportunity to practice observation, analysis, and critical thinking skills. By directly interacting with the professional environment, students can more easily visualize their future careers, thereby gaining more motivation to improve their knowledge and skills while still in school.

A notable highlight of the program is the connection activity between the university and the business. Through this visit, students listened to shares about career orientations, internship opportunities, as well as the recruitment needs of businesses in the hospitality industry. This is a chance for students to clearly understand the practical requirements of employers and make appropriate preparations for their future career journeys.

Concluding the visit to Saigon Prince Hotel, every NIIE student “brought home” practical experiences and valuable lessons. These will serve as important foundations to help them become more confident on the path of professional development in the hospitality industry after graduation.
