“Thanh Thang Long Thuo Ay” is a play that reenacts a special historical period of the nation during the dynastic transition from the Ly Dynasty to the Tran Dynasty. The play tells the story of the tragic fate of Ly Chieu Hoang – the last empress regnant of the Ly Dynasty who submitted to arrangement and abdicated the throne in favor of her husband, Tran Canh. The play portrays the silent sacrifice of Ly Chieu Hoang as she had to set aside her personal happiness to place the destiny of the nation above her own fate.

With elaborate investment in makeup, costumes, and stage settings, along with emotional and deeply immersive acting by the artists, the play authentically recreated the historical atmosphere, transporting the audience back to a tumultuous period of the nation. The emotional plot points and humanistic messages helped students not only learn history through books but also feel more deeply about the losses, sacrifices, and responsibilities of historical figures toward the nation’s destiny.

The historical story retold through the deep immersion and elaborate makeup of artists and actors created opportunities for the audience, especially students, to better understand the historical context and take greater pride in the nation’s traditional values

As the play concluded, many students expressed their emotion over the historical story brought to life on stage. Huynh Thi Tuyet Mai, a student from the Faculty of Pharmacy, shared: “Through the skillful makeup and performance of the artists, I was able to somewhat understand the historical context and the noble sacrifice of the last empress regnant of the Ly Dynasty.

She submitted to arrangement, accepting to put aside her personal happiness in exchange for the peace and stability of Dai Viet. That makes me feel even prouder of our nation’s fine traditions and grateful to the previous generations who contributed to building and preserving our homeland to this day.”

The play “Thanh Thang Long Thuo Ay” not only recreated a turbulent historical era but also awakened gratitude, pride, and a sense of responsibility toward the country in each young student. With such significance, the School Theater program has contributed to spreading patriotism, gratitude, and the consciousness of preserving and promoting national culture and traditions among students of Nguyen Tat Thanh University in particular and the young generation in general.

The interest and active response from students serve as proof that the good values of the Vietnamese people will forever be handed down through generations

To foster knowledge, character, and love for the country among learners, over the years, the University has continuously integrated traditional cultural and artistic experience activities into its training curriculum, with prominent examples including School Music, School Theater, and National Culture Ambassadors. Introducing national arts into the educational environment not only helps the young generation absorb history lessons in a vivid and natural way, but also affirms the University’s comprehensive educational philosophy—where every student is nurtured both in professional capacity and national spirit.
