Dengue Fever: A Dangerous Infectious Disease – Students Must Remain Vigilant

Dengue fever is a dangerous infectious disease transmitted by mosquitoes. The disease can strike anyone and is particularly prone to spreading into outbreaks in crowded environments such as dormitories, boarding houses, or classrooms.

Dear students, absolutely do not be careless! Equit yourself immediately with the following knowledge to protect yourself and your friends:

🤒 RECOGNIZE EARLY SIGNS IMMEDIATELY
🌡️ High fever of 39 – 40°C, continuous, lasting 2 – 3 days and very difficult to bring down.
🤕 Headache, pain behind the eyes, muscle and joint aches/body aches.
🤢 Nausea, skin rash, or appearance of hemorrhagic spots under the skin.
⚠️ SPECIAL WARNING – Warning signs to go to the hospital IMMEDIATELY:
😣 Severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting.
🩸 Nosebleeds, bleeding gums.
🥶 Lethargy, restlessness, cold extremities/cool fingertips, decreased urination.
😫 Feeling more fatigued even after the fever has subsided (this is the most dangerous stage).

🛡️ PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE
Each student should proactively take these simple steps:
🧹 Keep living spaces clean: Clean and organize your boarding room/dormitory. ABSOLUTELY do not leave standing water in bottles, jars, cups, buckets, basins, or plant pot saucers.
💦 Manage water sources: Tightly cover domestic water containers, remember to change water in flower vases frequently (at least once a week).
🛌 Protect yourself: Always sleep under a mosquito net (even during the day), use mosquito repellent cream/spray, and wear long-sleeved clothes when necessary.
💉 Proactively get vaccinated: Currently, Vietnam has a dengue fever vaccine available (for individuals aged 4 and above, regardless of whether they have had the disease before). Please get vaccinated if possible to protect your health.

💊 IMPORTANT NOTES WHEN HAVING A FEVER
❌ DO NOT arbitrarily buy and use antipyretic drugs such as Aspirin or Ibuprofen, as they can make the bleeding condition (stomach bleeding) more severe. ONLY use single-ingredient Paracetamol to lower fever as directed.
💧 Increase fluid rehydration: Sip plenty of water slowly throughout the day. It is best to use Oresol, coconut water, orange juice, or cooled boiled water to quickly replenish electrolytes.
🏥 Please go to the nearest medical facility immediately for examination, testing, and proper treatment advice.
💡 A clean boarding room and a dormitory free of mosquito larvae is the simplest and most practical way to protect yourself and those around you.
