During the recently concluded 3rd Odonto-Stomatology Scientific Conference of Nguyen Tat Thanh University in 2026, the E-poster Forum emerged as a highly meaningful scientific activity dedicated to students. Remarkably, despite being only in their 1st and 2nd years, the students conducted scientific research projects under the guidance of lecturers with utmost seriousness, creativity, and high quality. This active, early, and effective participation stands as a testament to their proactive learning spirit, passion for scientific research, and the immense research potential of Odonto-Stomatology students right from their first years of university.
Nurturing a Scientific Research Culture from the First Year of University
A unique highlight of the E-poster Forum was the enthusiastic participation of first-year students. This clearly reflects the training orientation of the Faculty of Odonto-Stomatology at Nguyen Tat Thanh University: Scientific research is not merely an activity reserved for students working on graduation theses, postgraduates, or researchers, but a competence that needs to be guided, shaped, and nurtured from an early stage.
By undertaking research projects tailored to the academic level of each school year, students step-by-step hone their scientific thinking and essential research skills—ranging from brainstorming ideas, raising research questions, defining research problems, and searching for scientific evidence, to implementing research, teamwork, and presenting findings. This also serves as an important foundation for building scientific research capacity—an indispensable competency for an Odonto-Stomatology doctor in the modern era.

Student Scientific Research Poster Exhibition – Bringing Academia Closer to Learners
At the conference’s Poster Exhibition Area, scientific research posters by Odonto-Stomatology students from the classes of 2024 and 2025 were put on display. This provided an opportunity for guests, lecturers, parents, and students to explore, exchange, and discuss issues in learning, research, and community oral health care. These posters were presented impeccably in both content and format, matching the standards of upperclassmen or young doctors. Following the conference, these posters will continue to be permanently exhibited at the student self-study area within the Faculty of Odonto-Stomatology.
This activity ensures that research works do not just end with a presentation session but continue to be disseminated within the academic environment. Thereby, it contributes to developing the movement of scientific research and innovation among students and lecturers across the faculty in the digital technology era.

Research Topics Closely Linked with Practical Community Needs
This year’s research posters focused on many practical topics related to community oral health care across different target groups. Many projects surveyed oral care habits of elementary school students, the elderly in nursing centers, as well as evaluated dental plaque status and risk factors affecting oral health.
In addition, student groups also conducted research on the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of oral care among Odonto-Stomatology students, ranging from the use of Xylitol in caries prevention, habits of consuming sugary drinks, and the use of interdental cleaning aids, to regular dental check-up habits.
Despite being their very first projects, all studies demonstrated great seriousness throughout the process of drafting research proposals, collecting data, and reporting results.

Numerous Awards Recognizing Student Efforts
To encourage the spirit of scientific research among students, the Organizing Committee presented the E-poster Awards to student groups with excellent research topics, creative ideas, high scientific and practical value, and impressive presentations.
Each award is not only an acknowledgement of the research groups’ hard work but also a source of motivation for students to continue nurturing their passion for academia, developing their scientific research competence, and contributing to the advancement of the Odonto-Stomatology sector.

Affirming a Training Orientation Integrated with Scientific Research
The E-poster Forum at the 3rd Odonto-Stomatology Scientific Conference in 2026 is part of the development strategy of the Faculty of Odonto-Stomatology at Nguyen Tat Thanh University to build a modern educational environment, where scientific research is integrated early into the students’ learning and practice process, and is sustained throughout their academic years at the University.
Through scientific research activities, students progressively develop the capacity to ask questions, search for scientific evidence, and apply knowledge to serve society and the community. This is precisely the foundation of modern Odonto-Stomatology education, enabling the Faculty of Odonto-Stomatology at Nguyen Tat Thanh University to continuously grow with an orientation that closely binds training, scientific research, and innovation in the new era.
