The project “DIA+: AI Application in Diabetes Management Support” by students from Nguyen Tat Thanh University has excellently surpassed nearly 100 competing teams nationwide to secure a spot in the National Top 10 of the “CYE Junior Vietnam 2026” competition. This achievement further affirms the applied research capacity, innovative mindset, and technology solution development capabilities serving the community of Nguyen Tat Thanh University students.
Organized by the Junior Chamber International (JCI) in Da Nang City, the competition gathered hundreds of students, lecturers, and entrepreneurs.

Applying AI into Diabetes Management
DIA+ is a digital health ecosystem developed to support diabetes patients in proactively managing, monitoring their health, and adhering to treatments right at home. The project aims to solve common difficulties in chronic disease management, such as hard-to-read handwritten prescriptions, unsynchronized medication records, irregular indicator tracking, and limited communication between patients and caregivers.
The highlight of DIA+ is its application of artificial intelligence combined with Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology to automatically read, recognize, and extract information from complex handwritten prescriptions within a short timeframe. Processed data is standardized and structured, enhancing accuracy while facilitating seamless integration into health monitoring systems.
On this foundation, DIA+ develops a digitized chronic disease management solution offering features such as real-time blood glucose tracking, Vietnamese voice-guided treatment schedule reminders, simplified prescription interpretation, and early alerts upon detecting abnormal health metrics.
The system also supports relatives and caregivers in monitoring patients’ health conditions remotely, helping reduce manual oversight pressure while maintaining information accessibility and rapid response capabilities. Through this, DIA+ targets a proactive, continuous, and sustainable healthcare model.

The student team from Nguyen Tat Thanh University developing the project includes Nguyen Tra Au, Nguyen Le Hong Quy, and Le Minh Khoi (all from NTTU Institute of International Education – NIIE), along with student Nguyen Huynh Nhu Y from Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City. The project falls under the startup development program of the NTTU Technology and Innovation Club (INNTECH), under the joint mentorship of M.Sc. Luu Thi My Ngoc – Deputy Head of the Department of Medicinal Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy at NTTU, and M.Sc. Cao Quan Huan – Director of A Chau Telecommunications Electronics Engineering Co., Ltd.
Developing DIA+ demonstrates students’ ability to apply specialized knowledge, technology, and entrepreneurial mindsets toward solving real-world healthcare problems. It also stands as evidence of the proactive research spirit, willingness to experiment, and persistent refinement of products among Nguyen Tat Thanh University students.
The journey from Top 30 to National Top 10
“CYE Junior Vietnam 2026” attracted 80 competing teams across all three regions (North, Central, and South Vietnam), showcasing projects in areas such as artificial intelligence, digital health, education, smart agriculture, e-commerce, and community support technology.
Following the preliminary round, DIA+ was selected among the Top 30 projects, officially advancing to the Semifinals. Here, the team continued to refine its technical solution, business model, practical application capability, and market development plan. By accurately identifying patient needs, presenting a technology-driven solution, and demonstrating a clear social impact focus, DIA+ was highly rated by the expert judging panel, securing its spot as one of the 10 outstanding projects entering the Final Round of “CYE Junior Vietnam 2026”.
Each team had 7 minutes to present their project followed by 5 minutes of direct Q&A with the Board of Judges. Projects were evaluated across 8 criteria sets, including necessity and applicability; feasibility; novelty and innovation; business model and market strategy; development potential; resource mobilization capacity; communication and marketing activities; and project execution capability.

Spreading the innovative spirit of NTTU students
The achievement of DIA+ marks the ongoing presence of Nguyen Tat Thanh University students in nationwide startup and innovation arenas. This accomplishment reflects not only the creative capacity, technology mastery, and community-oriented mindset of NTTUers, but also opens opportunities for students to receive expert feedback, validate business models, refine products, and expand connections within the innovation startup ecosystem.
Through a practice-oriented training environment, applied research activities, professional mentorship, and resource networking, Nguyen Tat Thanh University step-by-step enables learners to transform knowledge into practical products and actionable solution models, ready to apply learning to address real-world societal challenges.
