NTTU Fashion Design Students Make Their Mark at Global Student Fashion Week 2026

At the Global Student Fashion Week 2026 held at the Vietnam Exhibition Center (VEC) in Hanoi, the Fashion Design Department of Nguyen Tat Thanh University showcased 15 student-designed creations, worn by domestic and international models. Their presence at the event helped spread the spirit of creativity, Vietnamese cultural identity, and the educational distinction of NTTU students on an international fashion stage.

As a multidisciplinary university guided by the educational philosophy “Real Learning – Real Practice – Real Prestige – Real Career”, Nguyen Tat Thanh University consistently emphasizes practice-oriented training. It creates favorable conditions for students to participate in academic and professional platforms to foster creative thinking, professional competence, and international integration capabilities. Participating in “Global Student Fashion Week 2026” represents another continuous opportunity for Fashion Design students to introduce their innovative ideas while acquiring valuable experience from a professional runway environment.

Joining this year’s program, the Fashion Design Department of Nguyen Tat Thanh University presented three collections: Vu Sac, Lua La, and Hung Ca Su Viet, featuring a total of 15 designs. Although each collection adopted a distinct approach, all aimed to explore Vietnamese cultural values through modern fashion language, contributing to a lasting impression on the “Global Student Fashion Week 2026” stage.

Three collections – three creative colors

Prominently featured in this edition is the Vu Sac collection, comprising 7 designs inspired by three characteristic motifs of Nguyen Dynasty imperial art: clouds (van may), the Nguyen dynasty dragon, and Tam Son Thuy Ba (Three Mountains and Water Waves) patterns. Each pattern conveys unique symbolic meanings, ranging from aspirations for higher achievement, prosperity, and good fortune to eternal strength, sustainability, and national cultural identity.

Building on these traditional values, the collection was developed under a Ready-to-Wear direction, combining stylized patterns with modern silhouettes, lightweight fabrics, and layered voiles that create smooth motion effects. The designs strike a balance between everyday wearability and bringing traditional cultural values closer to the younger generation through contemporary fashion expression.

Meanwhile, the Lua La collection consists of 3 designs inspired by iconic imagery of Vietnam blended with a modern touch to evoke a youthful yet identity-rich aesthetic. Through these creations, the collection aims to showcase the beauty of Vietnamese culture from a fresh, creative perspective, promoting traditional values through a style suited to modern trends.

Offering a distinctive flair, the 5-piece Hung Ca Su Viet collection narrative tells stories of Vietnamese history and culture through five creative works named Lac Van Sac, Trong Com, Dieu Son Mai, Bach Hoa Tien, and La Phuong Hoang. Each design adopts a specific cultural symbol as its inspiration—ranging from Nguyen Dynasty imperial fine arts, lacquerware art, traditional musical instruments to phoenix imagery and the beauty of flowers.

By bridging traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design thinking, these creations not only recreate familiar cultural values but also offer a fresh perspective on Vietnamese identity within modern fashion. Each outfit unfolds its own tale, helping bring the nation’s cultural heritage closer to the public, particularly younger audiences.

The three collections were realized by three young designers: Nguyen Dang Khoa, Tran Phat Tai, and Duong Van Tuyen, under the academic mentorship of Dr. Vu Huyen Trang – Head of the Fashion Design Department at Nguyen Tat Thanh University.

From lecture halls to international fashion runways

“Global Student Fashion Week 2026” served not only as a stage for Nguyen Tat Thanh University students to present their original works, but also as an invaluable opportunity to interact, learn, and stay abreast of emerging fashion trends. Crucially, gaining hands-on experience on a professional runway allows students to accumulate industry experience, confidently develop creative concepts, and progressively validate their professional qualifications.

Through the journey of preparing collections, perfecting finished garments, and presenting them on stage alongside domestic and international models, students applied their classroom knowledge to practical scenarios while boosting their creative skills, design mindsets, and adaptability to fashion industry standards.

The participation of Nguyen Tat Thanh University’s Fashion Design Department at “Global Student Fashion Week 2026” reaffirms the university’s practical-oriented educational commitment. It opens avenues for students to unleash their creative potential, promote Vietnamese cultural identity, and steadily establish their footprint across professional domestic and international fashion stages.
