Speaking at the award ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Mai Lan – Party Secretary, Chairwoman of the University Council, shared that the 5th “Uncle Ho in My Heart” Competition continues to affirm the value of a meaningful political, cultural, and educational activity. With each season, the competition not only attracts a growing number of staff, lecturers, students, pupils, and general readers, but also serves as a space for everyone to express their deep affection and reverence for President Ho Chi Minh through creative and approachable perspectives.
The success of the 5th season stems from the close, responsible cooperation among co-organizing units, higher education institutions, cultural, publishing, and library agencies, contributing to elevating the quality of the competition while building a connected network for exchange and sharing across societal sectors. This contributes to spreading reading culture, educating ideals, and nurturing affection and awareness among staff, lecturers, students, and pupils.
Dr. Nguyen Mai Lan emphasized that the honor of bearing the name of the patriotic youth Nguyen Tat Thanh is not only a source of pride but also a responsibility for every staff member, party member, employee, and student of Nguyen Tat Thanh University in preserving, continuing, and spreading the noble values associated with His name and legacy. The Party Committee, University Council, and Board of Presidents consistently affirm that learning and practicing Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, ethics, methodology, and style must be conducted regularly, practically, and tied to concrete activities. Beyond political orientation campaigns, these values should be embodied in campus culture, teaching, scientific research, study, community service, and daily conduct.

“’Uncle Ho in My Heart’ is therefore not merely a contest, but a practical endeavor making the learning and practice of Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, ethics, methodology, and style closer and more vivid. Through each essay, painting, video, and story, President Ho’s image is approached with creative formats, helping His ideological and ethical values resonate continuously throughout daily life, especially among the younger generation,” – Dr. Nguyen Mai Lan highlighted.
The 5th “Uncle Ho in My Heart” Competition 2026 was co-organized by the Party Committees of University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU-HCM), Nguyen Tat Thanh University, Nghe An University, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dong Thap Province, Party Cell of Central Library & Publishing House under VNU-HCM Corporate Party Committee, and University of Economics and Law. The competition aimed toward commemorating the 136th Birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 – May 19, 2026), providing an occasion for readers to express profound gratitude toward Uncle Ho – the great leader of the Vietnamese nation. It also served to spread noble values from Ho Chi Minh’s thought, ethics, and lifestyle, while fostering reading habits and research interest within the community.
Launched in May 2026, the competition received over 1,900 entries across diverse categories including reflective essays, video clips, and drawings.

Excellently winning the Second Prize in the Drawing category, Pharmacy student Nguyen Luu Bi was deeply moved and proud of his achievement. Luu Bi shared that the painting was inspired by the meeting between President Ho Chi Minh and fighter pilots who scored achievements in shooting down enemy aircraft, including Colonel Nguyen Van Bay, Hero of the People’s Armed Forces. That meeting was not only an acknowledgment of outstanding soldiers, but also demonstrated Uncle Ho’s warm affection and deep concern for combatants serving on the front line. Through such encounters, His image shone not only as a supreme leader, but also as a father and comrade closely following every victory and growth of the soldiers.
Completing the artwork within seven days, Luu Bi found the greatest challenge was portraying the gentle, simple expressions on President Ho Chi Minh’s face. It was not merely reproducing an image, but conveying His aura, spirit, and emotion through each stroke. Every detail—from the eyes and smile to the facial lines—was carefully considered by Luu Bi so that Uncle Ho’s image emerged warm and approachable while retaining the noble stature of a leader who dedicated his entire life to the nation.
