Sharing the same sentiment, Minh Trung, a candidate in the 2026 High School Graduation Exam, believed that after the first subject, the hardest part is controlling emotions. “I have a few questions that I’m not really sure about, but if I keep thinking about them, it will be very exhausting. I remind myself to eat, rest, and then review knowledge for the next subject. The exam is still ongoing, so I have to try until the very end,” Trung said.
Not only candidates, but many parents also shared an anxious mood while waiting for their children outside the test site. Ms. Thanh Thao, a parent with a child taking the exam in Ho Chi Minh City, stated that her primary concern after the first subject was not how many marks her child could score, but whether her child could maintain their spirit for the remaining subjects. “I only encouraged my child that since the paper is done, temporarily put it aside, eat well, and rest. “If you keep dwelling on the past exam, you will easily lose energy. Instead, remind yourself that opportunities still lie ahead and you need to maintain your performance until the end of the exam season,” Xuan Hieu messaged the 2K8 candidates.
What needs to be done at this moment is to temporarily close the subject that has passed. Candidates should eat properly, take short rests, verify their documents and necessary tools, and review the key contents for the next exam session. If feeling sad or anxious, students can allow themselves a few minutes to stabilize their emotions, but should not let regret occupy all preparation time.

Instead of asking too closely “how many points did you get” or “is it identical to the answer key”, parents should encourage their children with gentle words, helping them feel trusted. For candidates, sometimes just a timely meal, a reminder to rest, and a quiet space are enough to recover their spirits.
In reality, many candidates after an underperforming subject can still regain their form in subsequent sessions if they know how to adjust their emotions timely. Resilience in an exam does not lie in everything being perfect, but in how you keep a clear mind, refuse to give up too early, and continue to enter the testing room with a stronger spirit.
