NTTU Health Sciences Youth Spread Love to the Community

The Faculty of Pharmacy and the Faculty of Nursing at Nguyen Tat Thanh University simultaneously deployed the Volunteer White Coat 2026 program in Can Tho City and Tay Ninh Province, promoting the pioneering and volunteer spirit for the community among health sciences students. Through medical examination, health consultation, medicine distribution, and health care education activities, the program contributes to spreading humanistic values while creating an environment for students to practice professional skills associated with social responsibility.

In Can Tho City, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Nguyen Tat Thanh University coordinated with Children’s Hospital 1 to organize a free health check-up, consultation, and care program for children in Phu Huu commune, Can Tho City. The activity not only contributes to improving the quality of primary health care for local children but also creates conditions for lecturers and students to promote the pioneering spirit and responsibility of the health sector youth toward the community.

During the program, nearly 900 children from policy families and disadvantaged families received general health checks, eye exams, dental exams, nutritional status assessments, health care consultations, and free medicine distribution from a team of doctors, lecturers, and students. In addition, the children were also presented with many meaningful gifts, contributing to spiritual encouragement and adding joy ahead of the new school year.

Accompanying the medical team throughout the program, lecturers and students of the Faculty of Pharmacy undertook many professional tasks such as welcoming and guiding people through health check-up steps, supporting medicine distribution, and consulting on safe and rational medicine use. With the knowledge equipped in lecture halls, students had the opportunity to directly participate in the community health care process under the guidance of experienced lecturers and doctors, thereby improving professional skills, communication abilities with patients, and awareness of compliance with professional procedures.

Not only bringing practical values to the people, the program is also a meaningful experiential learning environment, helping students better understand the role of a pharmacist in community health care work. Through each volunteer activity, students are trained in professional demeanor, cultivating medical ethics and the spirit of serving society – core values that the Faculty of Pharmacy at Nguyen Tat Thanh University always focuses on in the process of training high-quality medical human resources.

Continuing the journey of spreading the humanistic values of the 2026 Volunteer White Coat campaign, the Faculty of Nursing at Nguyen Tat Thanh University coordinated with the Youth Union of Binh Duc commune, Tay Ninh province to organize social security activities, visit and present gifts to people in difficult circumstances, contributors to the revolution, and students in the commune.

Within the framework of the program, more than 200 gifts were handed directly to disadvantaged households in the area. At the same time, the Faculty of Nursing at Nguyen Tat Thanh University presented 5 gratitude gifts to revolutionary contributors and 50 gifts to studious students overcoming difficulties. These gifts not only contributed material support but also showed the care, sharing, and sense of community responsibility of the faculty and student community of Nguyen Tat Thanh University.

According to M.A. Nguyen Thi Thu Thao – Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Secretary of the Youth Union, Acting Head of the Student Affairs Department of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, Volunteer White Coat is not only a volunteer activity for the community but also a meaningful practical learning environment. During the process of supporting people, students have the opportunity to practice communication, behavior, teamwork, and professional service demeanor, while applying professional knowledge into practice under the guidance of lecturers and medical staff. Through this, students step by step raise professional awareness, foster a sense of responsibility, compassion, and empathy with patients – the core qualities of future physicians.

On this occasion, students of the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Faculty of Nursing at Nguyen Tat Thanh University visited and offered incense and memorial wreaths at the martyr cemeteries in the locality, respectfully paying tribute and remembering the great contributions of heroes who bravely sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. In a solemn atmosphere, the lecturers and students of the University spent a minute of silence, expressing deep gratitude to previous generations.

This not only contributes to educating patriotic traditions and the moral principle of “Drinking water, remember its source” but also fosters a noble living ideal, sense of responsibility, and dedication spirit for union members and students in their journey of study, practice, and maturity

Volunteer White Coat is one of the typical activities of health sciences students at Nguyen Tat Thanh University to promote the pioneering, voluntary spirit and social responsibility of youth. Through each activity, students not only spread humanistic values to the community but also gradually mature in expertise, skills, and medical ethics. Through the program, many people in difficult circumstances have been helped, reducing the cost of medical examination and treatment. At the same time, the program also brings positive effects, contributing to joining hands with the community to care for people’s health, especially those in difficult circumstances in remote and isolated areas, and receives enthusiastic support from local people.

Aiming to contribute to society through education, training, research, and knowledge sharing, over the past 27 years, Nguyen Tat Thanh University has continuously spread the mission of serving the community, contributing to society many meaningful works and tasks through gratitude activities, caring for and nurturing revolutionary contributors, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, policy families, and disadvantaged children. In addition, the university also awards many scholarships, gifts, desks, and chairs to build community study areas… On the other hand, the youth of Uncle Ho’s school also bring the knowledge and skills they have learned to dedicate to the community through many meaningful activities. Those efforts not only show the spirit of solidarity and sharing but also contribute to building the image of Nguyen Tat Thanh University as always pioneering in connecting knowledge with community responsibility, developing together with the community. Among them, the University’s biggest goal is to build comprehensive individuals who are both politically sound and professionally competent with noble living ideals, a sense of protecting national sovereignty and love for the homeland and country, worthy of being teachers and students of the only university named after Uncle Ho during his youth – Nguyen Tat Thanh University.
