NTTU Law Students Bring Legal Knowledge to Life through Moot Courts

On the morning of July 15, 2026, the Faculty of Law and the Youth Union of Nguyen Tat Thanh University collaborated with the Tan Thoi Hiep Ward Youth Union to organize a mock court program at Le Van Tho Primary School. By reenacting a legal situation familiar to everyday life, the program contributes to raising awareness among youth and adolescents about traffic safety and school-based drug prevention; at the same time, it creates an environment for NTTU Law students to apply specialized knowledge into practice.

The program was implemented within the framework of summer activities for 2026 with the theme “Summer Fun in Uncle Ho’s City” and summer volunteer campaigns in Tan Thoi Hiep Ward. The activity aims to promote the pioneering and volunteer spirit of union members and students; strengthen the connection between NTTU youth and local Youth Union units; and spread legal knowledge to the community.

Reenacting a legal situation close to life

The mock court was built around a situation where parents handed vehicles over to their children, leading to an accident and violation of road traffic order and safety regulations. During the investigation, authorities discovered that the vehicle operator had used drugs in forms easily mistaken for others, such as “happy water,” “stamps,” and other addictive substances.

Through the simulated trial process, the program gradually clarified the violations, the responsibilities of involved individuals, and the legal consequences that could arise. The situation also raised the issue of family responsibility in managing and educating children, especially controlling the use of vehicles and identifying drug-related risks in school-age children.

Instead of conveying laws through theoretical clauses, the mock court helped union members and youth approach issues through specific characters, developments, and situations. Thereby, participants can easily identify wrongful acts and better understand the consequences of lack of awareness when participating in traffic as well as the danger level of drugs and addictive substances.

This is not only an activity to disseminate legal knowledge but also contributes to forming the ability to evaluate situations, self-protection skills, and a proactive awareness of saying no to behaviors that can cause danger to oneself, family, and society.

From the lecture hall to the professional practice space

For NTTU Law students, the mock court is not merely a legal propaganda activity but also a visual professional practice space. To reenact a trial, students must research the situation, identify legal behaviors, build an argumentation system, and properly express the roles of the subjects participating in the proceedings.

The process of role-playing the trial council, representatives of the procuracy, lawyers, defendants, and related persons helps students better understand procedural order, professional responsibility, and how to apply legal regulations to each specific situation. Thereby, knowledge learned in the lecture hall does not stop at memorizing documents but is transformed into legal thinking, debate skills, and problem-solving capacity.

The activity also creates conditions for students to practice presentation, criticism, teamwork, and community communication skills. These are important skills for Law learners, especially in the context that the labor market increasingly focuses on practical capacity, adaptability, and professional mettle in addition to specialized knowledge.

By bringing students into activities associated with social life, the NTTU Faculty of Law gradually expands the training space beyond the classroom, giving learners the opportunity to observe, experience, and better understand the value of law in protecting human rights, maintaining order, and building a safe community.

Spreading the spirit of rule of law from community responsibility

The mock court is one of the activities demonstrating the connection between professional training and the community service responsibility of the youth of Nguyen Tat Thanh University. With the knowledge and capacity equipped, students not only complete learning requirements but can also participate in solving social problems that families, schools, and localities are interested in.

Choosing content about traffic safety and school-based drug prevention has practical significance as these are issues that can directly impact youth and adolescents. Warnings conveyed through trial situations help participants understand that every violation can lead to consequences for health, spirit, assets, and legal responsibility.

The coordination between the Faculty of Law, the NTTU Youth Union, and the Tan Thoi Hiep Ward Youth Union also contributes to strengthening the connection between the university and the locality, putting the professional resources of lecturers and students into educational and social security activities.

Through the program, the Faculty of Law and Nguyen Tat Thanh University continue to affirm the orientation of training that combines theory with practice, professional experience with community responsibility. Students are not only equipped with legal knowledge but are also created conditions to practice mettle, skills, and professional attitude in practical contexts.

From a simulated trial, legal regulations have become close, easy to understand, and more impactful on youth and adolescents. At the same time, the program shows that when specialized knowledge is applied correctly, students can create specific values for the community, contributing to spreading a sense of responsible living and the spirit of rule of law in society.
