On the morning of September 12, 2026, at the An Phu Dong campus, the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology, in collaboration with the Youth Union and Student Association of Nguyen Tat Thanh University (NTTU), organized the Green Environment Day 2026 under the theme “Joining Hands to Reduce Water and Carbon Footprints.” The event created a dynamic platform connecting knowledge, creativity, and action, spreading a green lifestyle and inspiring a sense of responsibility among NTTU youth for a sustainable future.
The event was honored by the presence of Dr. Nguyen Van Bac – former Deputy Head of the Permanent Office in the South, National Agricultural Extension Center; Mr. Huynh Tan Dat – Director of Le Huynh Environmental Technology Co., Ltd., and Head of the Enterprise Club of the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology; and Mr. Ngo Hung Vu – Technical Director of Kim Phat High-Tech Agricultural Cooperative.
Representing Nguyen Tat Thanh University were Dr. Vo Thi Dieu Hien – Vice Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Nho – Head of the Department of Resource and Environmental Management; M.Sc. Nguyen Hoang Ngoc Chau – Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union; along with representatives from various departments within the faculty. In addition, the event welcomed representatives from public agencies, corporate partners, faculty members, and over 200 students from various faculties and institutes across the university.
The Green Environment Day 2026 served as a practical response to World Environment Day and the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. It provided a valuable platform for faculty, industry experts, businesses, and students to discuss pressing real-world environmental challenges. Moving beyond awareness raising, the program encouraged students to take concrete actions toward efficient resource utilization, greenhouse gas reduction, and adopting an environmentally responsible lifestyle.
Experts share perspectives: From green agriculture to sustainable development
In the context of accelerating climate change, resource depletion, and growing environmental pressures, water and carbon footprints have become vital indicators reflecting the environmental impact of production and consumption patterns. Addressing these realities, Green Environment Day 2026 focused on helping students build a accurate understanding of resource efficiency, identify key emission sources, and step-by-step convert knowledge into practical action.
A central highlight of the event was the keynote presentation “Reducing Water and Carbon Footprints Toward Green Agricultural Development and Sustainable Resource Protection” delivered by Dr. Nguyen Van Bac, along with the session “Understanding Water Footprint” by Dr. Tra Van Tung.

By connecting current challenges in industry and daily life, the speakers helped students gain a clearer perspective on the concepts of water and carbon footprints, as well as the intrinsic relationship between resource management, economic activity, and greenhouse gas emissions. Real-world case studies on water, energy, and resource management in agriculture offered valuable insights into the urgent need to transition toward resource-efficient, low-emission, and climate-resilient practices.
Crucially, the presentations extended beyond technical metrics to address a broader question: What can each individual do to minimize their environmental impact? From adjusting daily habits regarding water and energy conservation to choosing eco-friendly products and services, small everyday actions can drive significant systemic change when practiced consistently.
The Q&A session witnessed vibrant discussions, with numerous questions raised by students, effectively bridging academic theory with real-world practices. This interactive exchange allowed students in the Resource and Environmental Management program to reinforce their domain knowledge, broaden career perspectives, and realize the pivotal role of young professionals in driving the green transition.

The enthusiasm of Green Environment Day 2026 reached its peak during the Final Round of the Poster Design Contest themed “Joining Hands to Reduce Water and Carbon Footprints.” Selected from 49 preliminary submissions across various faculties, 15 outstanding projects advanced to compete in the final showcase.
Each poster told a compelling story through visual language, offering unique student perspectives on pressing environmental concerns. The entries focused on key themes including efficient water resource management, plastic pollution and waste reduction, carbon footprint minimization, climate change response, and sustainable living promotion.

Beyond aesthetic design, teams were evaluated on their core message, underlying concepts, and ability to translate complex environmental issues into accessible communication materials. The confident, visual, and highly creative presentations generated an energetic atmosphere, illustrating student initiative in communicating sustainable development concepts.
At the conclusion of the contest, First Prize was awarded to student Nguyen Thi To Uyen, majoring in Business Administration at NIIE; Second Prize went to student Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, majoring in Food Technology.

Three Third Prizes were awarded to Mai Van Nguyen (Mechatronics Engineering, Faculty of Engineering – Technology), Nguyen Hong Thinh (Resource and Environmental Management), and a student team comprising Nguyen Ngoc Phuong Khanh, Ho Vo Thao Nhi, and Nguyen Thi Phuong Linh (Medicinal Chemistry).

Additionally, the committee presented 8 Consolation Prizes, 1 Audience Choice Award, and 1 Most Impressive Poster Award selected by the Jury, celebrating impactful and memorable student initiatives.

When living green and living with purpose becomes a youth choice
The true impact of Green Environment Day 2026 lay not only in shared insights or creative displays, but in shifting awareness into tangible action. With over 150 students actively engaging, asking questions, innovating, and discussing shared solutions, environmental responsibility emerged as a core value across the NTTU community.
Whether saving a drop of water, replacing a single-use plastic item, utilizing electrical appliances efficiently, or making responsible purchasing choices, every small effort helps alleviate environmental strain. When collectively embraced, these choices build a powerful green movement.
Green Environment Day 2026 was therefore more than an event of knowledge and innovation; it stood as a firm statement of NTTU youth’s leadership on the journey toward sustainable development.
Through interactive activities, expert talks, and creative competitions, students were encouraged to approach environmental issues holistically—integrating scientific, managerial, economic, and social perspectives. This approach aligns with modern workforce development needs amidst global shifts toward green growth, circular economies, and sustainability.
With an educational philosophy that connects academic theory to practical application, the Resource and Environmental Management program at NTTU continues to play a pivotal role in equipping students with technical expertise, systems thinking, and problem-solving skills for real-world environmental challenges. Every experiential activity at the event was thus not merely an extracurricular program, but an integral part of academic growth, practical training, and professional identity formation.
