Event attendance lists
Starting from a news report, case, or legal event of public interest, students from the Faculty of Law at Nguyen Tat Thanh University must verify information sources, identify core issues, and defend their perspectives entirely in English. LEGAL ENGLISH WARRIORS 2026 thereby opens up a practical environment where foreign languages are connected with critical thinking, professional knowledge, and career skills.
Choosing an outstanding legal issue, searching for information, cross-referencing legal grounds, and translating them into an English presentation is the challenge set for contestants at LEGAL ENGLISH WARRIORS 2026. The competition requires students not only to use foreign languages fluently but also demands the ability to properly understand the nature of the case, organize arguments, and express well-founded perspectives.
Following the 2023 and 2024 seasons, LEGAL ENGLISH WARRIORS 2026 was organized by the Faculty of Law in collaboration with the Law Club under the theme “Legal News Presentation Contest”. The competition aims to build and maintain the tradition of learning and practicing English among students; enhance foreign language proficiency, especially legal English; and progressively equip foundational foreign language skills for Economic Law students within the context of international integration.
Not only an annual academic playground, the activity also creates opportunities for students to cultivate critical thinking, presentation skills, and the ability to analyze domestic and international current legal issues. Accessing, verifying, and processing diverse sources of information also encourages learners to proactively update global legal knowledge and enhance their ability to use specialized English in research and academic communication.
Attending the program were Dr. Lawyer Dang Thi Thu Huyen – Dean of the Faculty of Law, Nguyen Tat Thanh University; Dr. Nguyen Trong Tuan – Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law cum Head of the Department of Administrative and Judicial Law; members of the Jury including MSc. Tran Kieu Nhi, MSc. Ho Tran Bao Tram, and MSc. Tran Nguyen Quang Ha, along with lecturers, competing teams, and students of the Faculty of Law.

From current news to professional practice in English
Coming to LEGAL ENGLISH WARRIORS 2026, each contestant or team of two to three members selected an outstanding news report, case, or legal event that occurred within the past 12 months. The content could originate from Vietnam or internationally, opening up a diverse range of approaches for learners.
From the selected event, contestants had to clarify the context, identify related parties, and recognize arising legal issues. The presentation did not stop at recounting developments but needed to analyze relevant regulations, principles, or precedents; clarify the legal impact of the case on individuals, organizations, or policies; and provide well-founded commentary and personal perspectives.
To fulfill these requirements, students had to go through multiple steps, from searching for sources, selecting data, checking reliability to identifying focal points and building structural frameworks. Each piece of information included in the video needed to directly serve the process of explanation and analysis, rather than merely repeating content already appearing in the press.
Teams could choose presentation formats combining slides, commentary in the style of a legal news broadcast, or constructing an interview. Flexibility in expression allowed contestants to showcase their creativity while keeping accuracy, legal standards, and academic depth as the core focus.
Within a duration of 5 to 7 minutes, all presentations and subtitles were delivered in English, using the contestants’ real voices. The limited timeframe forced each team to carefully consider how to arrange their content: providing enough context for viewers to understand the case while dedicating the focus to analysis and personal perspectives.
The exam thus became a comprehensive learning task. Contestants had to simultaneously apply specialized English vocabulary, legal knowledge, research skills, information filtering capabilities, and the ability to express complex concepts in a clear, accessible manner.
Through this process, foreign languages are no longer approached as a learning content detached from professional expertise. English becomes a tool for students to read documents, analyze situations, exchange knowledge, and present their viewpoints on a specific legal issue.
Working with current events also helps learners realize that law does not merely exist in textbooks or normative legal documents. Every case is tied to the rights, obligations, and interests of related parties, requiring law students to approach information cautiously, objectively, and responsibly.

When foreign languages become part of professional competence
Entries were evaluated across five groups of criteria: content and legal accuracy; level of legal English proficiency; critical thinking and personal perspective; video presentation skills and creativity; citations and academic standards.
The criteria system showed that a presentation with fluent pronunciation or engaging visuals was still not enough to make a convincing entry. Students needed to select authentic sources, identify core legal issues, use specialized terminology accurately, and organize arguments in a logical sequence.
The analysis had to possess depth, avoiding mere storytelling of events. Personal perspectives also could not stop at subjective feelings but needed to be supported by appropriate data, regulations, principles, or documents. When necessary, contestants could connect Vietnamese law with international law to broaden perspectives while maintaining objectivity and academic standards.
Running parallel with content quality was responsibility toward the information used. Sources, legal documents, figures, images, and reference materials in the video had to be fully credited. This requirement helped students form habits of verifying information, respecting intellectual property rights, and maintaining honesty in study and research.
This year’s competition recorded the participation of teams from cohorts 23, 24, and 25. The Organizing Committee highly appreciated the serious investment, creative spirit, and multi-dimensional legal perspectives demonstrated through the entries. This was also an opportunity for students to meet, learn from experiences, and spread the spirit of legal research in English across the Faculty.
From an educational perspective, Dr. Lawyer Dang Thị Thu Huyen – Dean of the Faculty of Law, believed that foreign languages only truly prove their value when placed in the process of solving specific professional problems. LEGAL ENGLISH WARRIORS 2026 therefore not only creates an additional academic playground but also contributes to shaping how students approach information, construct arguments, and prepare professional competence.
“In the context where legal activities increasingly demand the ability to access diverse document sources and adapt to an integration environment, specialized English should not merely be viewed as a supporting skill but needs to become a part of a law student’s professional competence.
Through LEGAL ENGLISH WARRIORS 2026, the Faculty of Law desires learners to form habits of information verification, critical thinking, evidence-based reasoning, and clear expression of legal viewpoints.
This is also how we gradually bring the spirit of ‘Practical learning – practical application – authentic reputation – professional practice’ into concrete learning experiences, helping students become more proactive when stepping into the professional environment,” shared Dr. Lawyer Dang Thi Thu Huyen.

The Organizing Committee announces results and honors outstanding individuals and teams at LEGAL ENGLISH WARRIORS 2026
Naming the outstanding legal English “warriors”
Following the evaluation process based on the announced criteria, the standout individuals and teams of LEGAL ENGLISH WARRIORS 2026 were announced at the awarding ceremony.
The First Prize belonged to student Nguyen Ngoc Thanh Thuong. The LAW25 team, consisting of Nguyen Chi Thien and Vu Bao Tram, won the Second Prize. The Third Prize was awarded to the LEX DUO team with two members Trinh Duy Khanh and Huynh Ngoc Phuong Vy.
Two Consolation Prizes went to the THE LEGAL INSIGHT TEAM, comprising Huynh Truong Thinh, Pham Anh Khoa, and Ta Hai Bien; and the SOFT BUT LEGAL team, comprising Le Thi Dieu Hang and Nguyen Tran Nhu Quynh.
Alongside certificates, the First Prize received a cash prize of 5 million VND, the Second Prize 4 million VND, the Third Prize 3 million VND, and each Consolation Prize 1 million VND. Results were determined from the average scores of the Jury members based on the competition’s criteria system.
Sharing after winning the First Prize, student Nguyen Ngoc Thanh Thuong stated that the competition helped her clearly understand how to apply English to specific professional tasks, rather than stopping merely at learning vocabulary or casual communication.
“Through LEGAL ENGLISH WARRIORS 2026, I learned how to search and verify sources, identify core legal issues, select appropriate grounds, and present viewpoints in English clearly and persuasively. The preparation process also helped me hone skills in working with legal documents, critical thinking, and the ability to express specialized contents.
I felt more strongly that academic activities at the Faculty of Law of NTTU not only help students reinforce knowledge in the lecture hall but also create opportunities for practice, gradually preparing the necessary skills for future work,” shared Nguyen Ngoc Thanh Thuong.
Titles and awards are recognition for the contestants’ preparation. However, the value gained by learners also lies in the journey of self-searching for materials, processing information, building content, and perfecting presentation skills in English.
From a current legal issue, students must continuously raise questions: Is the source reliable? Where does the core legal issue lie? Which regulations need to be used? Are the presented perspectives sufficiently grounded and persuasive? It is this process of finding answers that makes each entry an exercise in professional mindset.
LEGAL ENGLISH WARRIORS 2026 thus does not merely honor contestants with good English proficiency. The competition also creates a dynamic academic environment for students of the NTTU Faculty of Law to connect foreign languages with professional knowledge, cultivate critical thinking, presentation skills, academic responsibility, and the capacity to proactively update global legal knowledge.
Through the activity, the motto “Practical learning – practical application – authentic reputation – professional practice” continues to be materialized through learning experiences tied to practical requirements. From reading a news report, verifying sources, analyzing regulations to building and defending arguments, students step by step form a foreign language foundation along with the necessary competencies to proactively adapt to the professional and integration environment after graduation.
