In 2026, Nguyen Tat Thanh University continues to allocate 50 scholarships worth a total of 750 million VND for freshmen facing difficult circumstances, continuing its journey alongside the “Relay to School” program.
Since 2023, Nguyen Tat Thanh University has partnered three times with the “Relay to School” scholarship program organized by Tuoi Tre Newspaper, in the years 2023, 2025, and 2026.

Dr. Nguyen Mai Lan, Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees at Nguyen Tat Thanh University, stated that the decision to continue partnering with the program stems from a desire to create more educational opportunities for disadvantaged young people who possess strong determination and a passion for learning.
“Our university fulfills its social responsibility hand in hand with training high-quality human resources for the country, while accompanying and creating educational access for young individuals in difficult circumstances who are rich in resilience and learning aspirations,” Ms. Lan said.
According to her, behind the joy of university admission for many freshmen lies the anxiety over tuition fees and living expenses. Some young individuals have strived for 12 years to reach the university gates, only to face the risk of putting their dreams on hold due to their families’ financial hardships.
“Therefore, this year the university decided to continue partnering with the ‘Relay to School’ program with 50 scholarships worth a total of 750 million VND dedicated to our new students,” Ms. Lan shared.
In 2023, the university awarded 50 scholarships, each worth 10 million VND. In 2025, the university continued to award 50 scholarships, each worth 15 million VND, totaling 750 million VND.
In 2026, 50 scholarship slots are once again allocated to the university’s freshmen, helping these young people alleviate part of the tuition pressure upon entering their first academic year.
M.Sc. Bui Quang Trung, Head of the university’s Communications Department, shared: “A scholarship awarded at the right time is crucial financial support that helps preserve learning opportunities and inspires confidence for freshmen to stand firm and move forward.”

Reconnecting with Students Previously Supported
One year after receiving the 2025 “Relay to School” scholarship, Nguyen Thi Bich Phuong, Phan Dang Anh Duong, and K’Lem – three sophomore students at Nguyen Tat Thanh University – are continuing their education on campus.
At the time of admission last year, each faced a different hardship, yet all shared the same concern about how to afford tuition and living expenses.
Bich Phuong, a Medical Physics major, had only 500,000 VND in her pocket on enrollment day—money pooled together by her aunts and uncles. Without a part-time job yet, Phuong stayed at a high school friend’s place during her first days, balancing her studies while figuring out how to cover rent, food, and transportation.
“To many people, a few hundred thousand dong is nothing, but to me back then, it was all I had to start my student life,” Phuong recalled.
For Graphic Design student Phan Dang Anh Duong, whose mother had passed away and whose father suffered health impacts post-COVID-19 leaving him unable to maintain stable employment, she and her sibling relied largely on support from relatives. At times, Duong thought she would only be able to finish middle school.
Meanwhile, K’Lem, a Pharmacy student who traveled from the Central Highlands to attend university, worried as her family’s income depended on seasonal farming. Going away to study meant an increased burden on her parents back home. The K’Ho (Ma) girl often asked herself whether she could see her educational path through to the end.
Amid those anxieties, the “Relay to School” scholarship prevented all three from having to stop at the university threshold.
Anh Duong shared that the scholarship helped her settle tuition right when her family had nowhere else to turn. Currently, she balances studying with working as an online tutor teaching English and color theory, covering part of her expenses and sharing the burden with her family.
“I used the scholarship to pay tuition, cover living costs, and purchase initial learning materials. What touched me most was that the scholarship came directly from Nguyen Tat Thanh University itself—the place I chose to study. I felt the trust and compassion extended to me,” K’Lem said.

Upon receiving the scholarship, Bich Phuong spent 4 million VND buying a second-hand laptop for her studies. The remainder went toward rent, learning materials, and enrollment fees. Phuong started learning programming, familiarizing herself with specialized software, and buying components and materials for research experiments.
In 2026, Phuong won the “Breakthrough” award in the innovative startup competition and the “Young Researcher” award at the university’s Medical Physics – Biomedical Engineering Student Conference.
The most meaningful aspect of the scholarship is giving me another chance to pursue the path I chose. People who didn’t even know who I was still granted me an opportunity, so I must strive even harder not to disappoint that trust.

Timely support to ignite faith and confidence
According to Dr. Nguyen Mai Lan, the true value of “Relay to School” over the years lies in how the program has promptly reached new students facing the threat of putting their university dreams aside due to hardship. That value is forged from scholarships arriving right on time, when learners need a pillar of support to press on.
“Timely support may not change everything, but it is enough to give recipients the faith to keep going. That is the value Tuoi Tre has persistently built, and it is also the reason our university continues to partner with the program,” Ms. Lan said.
