Recently, the University has detected several fraudulent cases appearing in student community groups, particularly targetting K26 Freshmen. Scammers often post content related to academic support, job opportunities, or driver’s license registration to build trust—ultimately trying to solicit money or steal personal information.
1. Common Scam Tactics to Watch Out For
Students must remain vigilant and recognize the following 4 common fraudulent schemes:

Impersonating University Staff and Lecturers: Scammers claim to be NTTU lecturers or staff, using official names, titles, and photos. They then demand urgent money transfers to personal bank accounts, QR codes, or phone numbers without official university announcements.

Fabricating Hardship Stories for Financial Help: Fake students post stories about running out of money, missing tuition, or facing emergencies, begging for transfers with promises to repay. Never send money based solely on unverified posts or photos.

Requesting Money via Direct Messages: Sending private messages asking for small amounts for gas, food, or urgent matters. Always verify the person’s identity in real life before taking action.

Driver’s License Registration Offers: Unverified offers for driver’s training and testing. Do not transfer fees to personal accounts or disclose ID cards, bank details, or OTP codes without verifying the organizing entity officially.

To protect yourself and your personal property, students are advised to adhere to the following guidelines:

Verify Identity: Always double-check the identity of anyone posting or messaging you privately.

Cross-check Official Channels: Confirm any academic or financial requests with your academic advisors or functional departments via official NTTU communication channels.

Follow the “3 NOs” Principle:

DO NOT transfer money based solely on social media posts or direct messages.

DO NOT share bank passwords, OTP codes, or financial credentials.

DO NOT provide personal identification documents (National ID, Student ID) to unknown individuals.
